Barcode Requirements

You should check your Retailers' barcode and packaging requirements prior to purchasing your barcode(s).

Regardless of who you purchase barcodes from you should NOT print your packaging until you have full acceptance of your barcodes and packaging by all of your retailer(s).

If in doubt, get a verification report of your barcode image & check that the retailer is happy with this before you print your packaging.

VERIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Some retail companies in Australia, NZ & USA require the printed barcodes on all products coming into their store to be verified. This is a test scan of the barcode that generates a report showing how easily the barcode image scans.

The companies that we are aware of that probably require barcode verification are in Australia and New Zealand - Coles Australia, Foodstuffs NZ, Bunnings and Placemakers NZ. If you intend to supply to these companies, check with them to determine their specific labelling requirements before you purchase your barcodes or print your packaging.
