Barcode Verification
Verification reports are test scan results of printed
barcode images. The reports tell us how easily & accurately the
barcode images scan. The barcode is given a grade - A, B, C & D are
pass grades. The report also provides specific details about the
various parameters of the barcode.
Some companies require verification reports to be done on the final printed packaging for all new products entering their stores. Other companies choose to carry out these tests themselves on new products they are accepting.
Verification reports can also be performed on your artwork before printing. This is a good way to determine whether your barcode is likely to be easily readable when it is finally printed. Note that verification reports on artwork DO NOT guarantee that the final printed barcode will scan well - there can be errors in the final print process.
The safest procedure is to get a verification report performed on your artwork, and then another verification report for your final printed product.
We are able to provide verification
reports for your barcodes. These reports are performed by an independent GS1-accredited company using
the latest verification equipment & the cost for a verification
report is
£35. If you would like a verification report for your artwork
or final printed barcode, please purchase below & then send us a
copy of your barcode:
For printed packaging, post or courier the
packaging with barcode to us at the physical address on our
contact
page.
For artwork,
email a full-size A4 pdf of the section of artwork with
the barcode to us.

What is the difference between a barcode verifier machine & a barcode scanner?
A verifier machine is not the same as a scanning machine. A barcode scanner is a mass-produced machine that interacts with a computer to provide machine recognition of the information (data) stored in a barcode image. Using a scanner to test or read a barcode can only tell us that the scanned bar code has some area on it that is readable by that barcode scanner. A good barcode scanner can read a poor quality bar code image.
In contrast, a verifier is a precision machine that is designed to predict how easily the bar code will be read by typical barcode scanners. The verifier can decode, measure and check the quality of every aspect of the bar code picture, and indicate any areas that need to be improved.
A barcode verifier looks like this:
